York St Mary's

Flood installationOver the past seven years we have displayed a range of contemporary art installations in the 15th Century St Mary's Church on Castlegate. This year we commissioned the artist Susan Stockwell to respond to the building, and a four-tonne installation of recycled computer components called Flood was the result.

The installation was only made possible through the help of a team of 10 volunteers who helped the artist with the installation of Flood, helping from day one with the delivery, unpacking, and then building of the work. Opportunities to work with established artists are quite rare, and we are very grateful for Susan for facilitating this.

This new work was funded by Arts Council Yorkshire and we are grateful for their support.
